Today I am 53-months old
It’s official. I am 4.5 years today. Closer to 5 than 4. How. Is. That. Possible?
It has been a very exciting month for me. I am playing on a real tee ball team. With uniforms and a hat. My team is the “Red Sox,” which we just learned that after the Mets is Daddy’s second favorite baseball team. I am now an avid follower of Boston Red Sox baseball. We have had two games so far and I really like playing. Daddy was pretty excited about my tee ball career. Our games are just 50 minutes and he took 164 photos of the just the first game! Other than tee ball, my month has been full of other sport too (big surprise!). Our minor league hockey team made it to the equivalent of the Stanley Cup. They lost the series, but we sure had fun going to the games. Cara came too and was a really good sport about it. Daddy also took me to see the Harlem Globetrotters. They were funny. I kept trying to understand what league they were in and don’t quite understand what an “exhibition” team is, but I had fun with a nice night out with Daddy. Every year for Christmas, Grandma and Grandpap gives us tickets to the minor league baseball team. We went to our first game a few weeks ago. Cara was featured on the jumbotron! She is so cute! Grandma and I went to a day game during the week. We met the coach’s wife and she got me a signed ball, a hat and some cotton candy. She was very impressed with my baseball knowledge.
I have also watched a lot of sports on TV. I am pretty into the Stanley Cup playoffs and baseball right now. If I don’t have any particular affiliation for a team (Mets, Red Sox, Penguins) I pretty much decide who to cheer for based on how much “blue” is in their logo or on their uniform. It’s still my favorite color. Mommy lets me play with her iPhone now in the car. I go right to the sports scores. I have a handle on who is playing who and what time. Mommy has managed to make this a learning experience with helping me learn how to tell time, comparing numbers and she has me spell out the team names of the logos I don’t know. Then, Grandma introduced me to THE SPORTS PAGE in the newspaper. Do you know about this? It. Has. Everything. She went through box scores, stats and standings with me. WOW.
Before you start criticizing my parents for being so sports oriented, please know there are lots of other fun things that happen in our house. I just finished Kindermusik class and started a cooking class. Grandma is going to sign me up for more Kindermusik and an art class this summer. I have been drawing more lately, please see a couple pictures on the attachment. When I was little, I would always ask a grown up to draw a picture of an airplane when we would go out to eat. I am now able to draw my own planes! We went to the Dallas Zoo last week (where a lemur was on the loose) and this week we went to Dallas Children’s Museum (where a snake was “active”). I finished my first year of Sunday school and still love to read. Daddy and Mommy went to a wedding this month of their good friends Karen and David. I was disappointed not to go to the wedding, you know I love a good plane ride. However, Cara and I got to stay at Camp Grandma! That was super fun!
Cara is 18 months-old this month. She went for her check up and she is doing well. She is growing a little taller, but still has very little hair. She is finally getting more teeth, but that has not slowed her down from eating! She loves sports as much as I do and loves to wear her baseball hat and carry around her bat. Grandma bought Cara her own “princess” baseball bat, which Cara insists on sleeping with. She is putting together words and we love hearing her say “hockey”. She also loves her books and we have started building with big Legos together. She likes to climb on everything and does a really good job of keeping up with me!
We celebrated my cousin Emily’s third birthday yesterday at the park. It was a fun party! And today was Mother’s Day. Everyone came to our house for brunch.
