I am 69-months old today
And, I am a three-week kindergarten veteran! Yes, as I mentioned last month, I started kindergarten. It has been going fine so far. After the first week of being jostled from teacher to teacher (our school uses the first week of school for assessments and teacher rotation so we can be with a teacher who is a good match for us), I have settled in and have Miss Wright. I took this as a good sign as David Wright (NY Mets #5) is my favorite MLB player! We are in a pretty good routine for getting to school. Although Daddy has not been traveling and all that is going to change next week.
On Friday of the first week of school we came out wearing our class of 2024 shirts! That seems so far away – gosh, I will be writing my “I am 230-months old today” email when it’s graduation time. We have been learning sounds and letters and I have learned all about my proprioceptive muscle, which is used for writing. In math, we are doing sequences and patterns. I like going over the weather and calendar using our classroom’s Smart Board – I love technology!
Getting in the kindergarten routine has been most of what I have been up to this month. My baseball team, the Texas Penguins, have been practicing and our games start this weekend. We are playing in a 7U league, which means no tee – all coach pitch. We had a preseason game and I got a hit! I started Sunday School and guess who is my teacher? Mom! And I am continuing with my skating lessons. I have started to skate backwards – forward progress!
My sister Cara started pre-school. We switched preschools this year and Cara is in the 2s program at Apple Creek. Probably the most exciting news is that she is potty trained! Cara is loving learning with me. She can recognize all of her ABCs and is learning all of the sounds that they make. Daddy bought these cool shows called “School House Rock” – have you heard of them? We LOVE them! My favorite is the “Preamble” one, which talks about the Constitution. Cara and I like to sing them together. We also like “Three is a Magic Number.” I can’t believe Cara’s birthday is next month and she will be 3! She wrapped up a ballet class and is starting a music and soccer class this month. We also ended our summer with Miss Emily. Miss Emily came and helped out a couple days a week while Mommy worked. We love her. She played great games with us – our most favorite was the airplane game where Cara and I would pack our bags and take a trip. We usually went to NY to see the Mets play! Miss Emily plays volleyball for her college and loves the Texas Rangers! Cara does miss me a lot when I am in school. She is always asking Mommy, “is it time to go get my brother?” She is so sweet.
I am excited about the upcoming NFL season. Mommy and Daddy are doing fantasy football this season. Mommy named me her team manager! I am hopeful that my Mets will end the season .500 and we are very excited to be cheering on the Texas Rangers (my favorite AL team!).
Also this month, my great Uncle Chaz passed away. He was Mommy’s godfather and Grandpap’s brother. We will miss his annual visits to Texas and know that he is in heaven. This is a picture of him with Mommy on her Baptism day.
That’s all for me. Next month it is study, study, study now that I am a big kindergartner!
xoxo, Sean
